The DCU Series Second Season Last Episode to Resolve Significant Viewer Grievance, Showrunner Gunn Confirms
While the reception for Peacemaker the latest season has been mostly positive, with fans and critics praising the acting and plot—despite the fact that the major revelation in the seventh installment didn't come as a shock—one critique has intensified throughout the season: dwindling runtime lengths.
Over the past few episodes, audience members have voiced frustration over the noticeably shorter episode lengths in season 2, and indeed, the installments have been getting shorter and shorter. Episode 7, called “Like a Keith in the Night,” ran just 28 minutes (not counting the summary, title sequence, and closing credits), making it the shortest episode so far.
You'll be happy to know the upcoming finale is over 57 minutes long.
Series creator and DCU boss Gunn stated on Threads, replying to a disappointed fan.
Although this is encouraging, it remains unclear what portion of the 57 minutes will be brand-new content, free from intro and outro segments, or summaries of past episodes. However, should the episode includes all the aforementioned filler, that would still allow for roughly three-quarters of an hour for the finale, which is a significant improvement following the previous installment.
The director earlier teased that the finale would not only conclude Peacemaker but also give a hint towards the direction the broader DC Universe at large will be heading and serve as a kind of precursor for the next Superman movie. Given the brief appearance of Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor from the sixth installment, fans expect a juicy cameo to cap off the show.
The show's finale, the eighth episode, is called "The Full Nelson," and audiences must wait to find out if viewer theories are proven correct.
